The Old Flag (newspaper)

Capt. William H. May, was captured at Terre Bonne, LA, along with most of his company.  They were sent to Camp Ford prison in Texas.  While in prison, May "published" a newspaper called "The Old Flag."  He hand-printed 3 issues and brought them out with him at the time of his release in 1864.  (This image is only a small portion of one page of May's newspaper.)

On April 8, 1864, Banks’ armies were surprised by a Confederate frontal assault led by General Richard Taylor, son of former US President Zachary Taylor, at the Sabine Cross Roads just south of Mansfield, Louisiana.
